Seven year old Frankie has Mitochondrial disease which is a life-limiting condition; he is non-mobile, non-verbal, deaf and feeds through a tube.
Frankie's cognitive development is not delayed and he enjoys watching his two younger siblings, aged 2 and 4 playing, and he loves watching children playing football.
The Axentis Michael Charitable Trust funded the purchase of a specially-made X-Rover All Terrain Buggy with an additional support seat for Frankie’s head (as he struggles to support it without assistance) costing just over £5,000.
The large X-Rover is specifically designed for older children and young adults and is an extremely robust pushchair that will be suitable for Frankie for many years to come. This versatile buggy and bike trailer has enabled Frankie to enjoy outdoor pursuits with his family, access places that are normally out of bounds, and has vastly improved the quality of his and his family's life.
Frankie's Mum, Hannah said:
"We honestly can not thank you all enough for making this happen - you have given Frankie and us a family so many more memories to share together, and having more freedom as a family by allowing us to go places we couldn’t before."
"Frankie absolutely loves his chair and we can not explain how much it means to us - we are so grateful."
